All about Ash...    [Weekdays 7-Midnight]

One ear down on the street & one ear on the local beat of Asheville... the local music scene is the pulse that pumps the life through this eclectic town & I've been fortunate enough to be a part of it.  From local music in Chicago to Champaign, IL & now to Asheville through Local Licks on 105-9 the Mountain & Homegrown with 98-1 The River.  Tapping into the real culture of Asheville from music to film to festivals & more, if it's local it's homegrown & I want to know about it!  But not only will I be getting you in touch with everything "homegrown", but I'll be keeping you company through the evenings hosting nights from 7 to midnight here on The River.

I also host our local music program,
Homegrown brought to you by Beaverdam Gallery, every Sunday night at 6pm.  Link up to all local  the bands here!

A brief Bonnaroo Overview:

I did so much at Bonnaroo & it didn’t seem like that from the pictures yesterday, but you’ll see them now!  Some of my favorite acts were Tenacious D (killed it!), Stevie Wonder, Clutch, OK GO, Jay Z was pretty bad ass… he threw it down (and I don’t even listen to rap!), Margaret Cho was really vulgar… that’s the only way I can describe her.  I can’t say that it was enjoyable, only really dirty.  Trombone Shorty sounded ill, She & Him were fun, not the best setting for the Carolina Chocolate Drops, but people enjoyed it.  Tori Amos was good (check out the picture of her play 2 different pianos at once… nice).  Michael Franti really got the crowd going, and he was nice enough to take a pic with me. :)  I had NO IDEA how amazing Kings of Leon are; AWESOME!  Conan O’brien (giant ginge) entertained the masses all weekend; not only did he have his own show (2xs), but he also intro’d Stevie & Tenacious D.  Baaba Maal got down, Norah did great (it was better at the Thomas Wolfe though), The Avett Brothers had the crowd going wild & played all their hits, Weezer was fun, what else could you expect?  Jeff Beck ROCKS!!!!!!  There were also some Asheville related events; Hunab Kru Breakdancing definitley impressed, and Josh Phillips Folk Festival was their to jam. Omigosh… almost forgot The Flaming Lips; they tore up the Dark Side! SICK!!!  This is a brief wrap-up compared to last year, but it would take me hours to write the whole review. ;) Overall, a great Bonnaroo!  I got my fill of some great music, and a massage (thanks Jess!), and hopefully you like the pics!

CHECK OUT SOME BONNAROO PICTURES HERE! (Make sure to check them all out, they get better towards the end. :) )

Check out this acoustic set from Dr. Dog from backstage at Bonnaroo! (Not the best video... I took it :))
